How to Start a Juice Fast or Raw Food Diet

Tips For Starting a Raw Food Diet.

1. Never run out of live foods, keep a banana always in your car or purse.

Washing Produce, even Organic : I soak all my produce in a giant sink with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. This should kill most germs.  Let soak for 15 min. Then empty dirty water and rinse again. I also rub all dirt off the produce with a scrub brush.

2.  Staying on a 100 percent raw is easier than mixing up the diet between raw and cooked meals. If you try mixing it you will just quit, because of our "cooked food addiction." Make a commitment to try 100 percent raw for 90 days, lose all the extra pounds, feel great and sexy and then decide how often you want to stay raw....You can turn the diet on and off, depending on how you want to feel, and how great you want your physical body to become. I find that I can get too thin on a 100 percent raw vegan diet, even when I am eating whenever I am hungry. After many years of being fully raw, I found a new balance, a couple pf hot meals on the weekend ( anything I want) and then I go back to 100 percent raw. I like my thoughts on the raw food diet, they are glorious, nothing compares.  The Raw till 4 diet, gives me half day of feeling happy, but after eating the heavy cooked foods I notice a huge dip in my mood. I love the "RAW HIGH". I feel euphoric with the raw food high, which is why I try to get as many days in a row as I can, for happiness. I get the question often how long do you have to be on this diet to feel this raw high? I think 24 hours, but it may take longer if your body is full of toxins from your old diet. And if you can start it off with green juice for the first part of each day, you will notice the high immediately. The leaves have chlorophyll they are a quantum transporter of oxygen to every cell in your body!

3. Sugar and Salt cravings are strong for the first few months. Use raw desserts and kale chips to get through it.

4. Do not count calories, I eat whenever I am hungry. You will not gain weight if you stay 100 percent raw.

5. When you have a few months under your belt, pull back on the nuts and raw treats. I am 6 years into the diet and just now noticing the content of my mind while eating, even raw. I eat my emotions, both joy and anger. When you have the raw food diet under control you can try "eating for fuel" not just emotions. This is the highest state of living, I am aiming for it! :)

We in America have put food as our form of enjoyment, but is is a mistake and made us number one in obesity. With the raw food diet you will discover the body you were designed to have, unveil your mind to pure clean focus and explore the world happier than you have ever been. It is not easy to undertake this diet for two main reasons. One, the cost, and Two the discipline. But, if you think about it you will lose everything when you get sick and die, and two the discipline has the greatest reward possible, you will be at your optimal state of being!

Juice Recipe:  My favorite mixture: apples, carrots, broccoli, kale, celery, tomatoes and jalapeños to make it spicy! The idea is to vary your produce using what's in season, especially the type of leaves.

The biggest question we get asked is where does your protein coming from? 
Protein is built by the amino acids, and the green leaves have all the amino acids you need.
Drinking "One Pound" of leaves a day provides your body with the right amount protein.

Also, try to drink a glass or two of spring water during your fast, or what we call, "filtered."
Replace coffee with green tea and if you panic have a couple bananas until you relax, just don't give up.

David and I drink 9 cups of juice a day each, but there is no limit— drink until you feel comfortable. The first day is the hardest—you'll feel hungry at night. The second day is easier, and by the third day you'll feel satisfied and Begin to Feel Amazing!! But, if you wait more than 4 hours between having a juice, you'll feel a little nuts and want to cheat, so make sure you don't wait that long.

Juice Fast Diary

Day One:

Breakfast: 2 cups of juice.
Make a half a gallon to take with you to work: Here's a fast blended recipe: half a gallon of organic organic juice with a pound of kale leaves, to drink all day. ( ideal blend is all fresh fruit and leaves)
Lunch: Two large glasses of oj and kale.
Dinner: Four glasses, one every hour until bed. Our Night Recipe:
We juiced: three tomatoes, a pound of spinach, carrots, ginger, apples, broccoli and jalapeños!

Day Two:

I spent three hours shopping and wash the amount in the photo below. This enough food for two people on a juice fast for at least one day. (60. dollars)
I washed, cut and put bowls of fresh fruit and mostly vegetables in the refrigerator. I find that when I'm juicing I am more hungry for vegetables than fruit, finding it more filling. 

It's nearly Thanksgiving and Kale is in Season! Winter Kale!

A Spicy Bloody Mary minus the vodka :) Tomatoes, Kale, broccoli, cucumber, apples and a green pepper!

Recipe: Tomatoes, broccoli  apples, carrots, Kale, ginger, lemon and two or three jalapeños for one full pitcher! It's very filling, because your body is now starting to get all the nutrients it needs and it stops begging you to feed it with those hunger pangs.

Before bed: Apple juice add Kale— one glass.

I found that 9 cups of juice was perfect today! This is about a gallon of juice per day with a 1/2 gallon of filtered water and three cups of green tea. Give or take, do not count calories. When you juice or eat a raw food diet you do not need to worry about calories, you will not gain weight. :)
I put a cap of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar in my bowl of water to kill all bacteria and parasites,.
You can also eat raw garlic daily to assure that you have no worms or parasites, because 90 percent of the population has parasites in their intestines. (sorry!:)
Day Three: I just washed and prepared food for tomorrow. If you run out of food the temptation to break the fast is extremely high. Also, if you are panicking or scared or feeling dizzy, eat some bananas. The key is not to give up the fast. Please don't be heavy handed with yourself, fasting takes extreme discipline and there is no limit to how much you can drink. It took me three tries to get past my third day of juicing and over three years. Today I am on day 8 of a juice fast and feel incredible, going for 21 days, a personal record! Listen to your body on what you desire to drink for taste, just tune in and enjoy the fresh unlimited diet. Your only obstacle is running out of juice.
