Lahiri Mahasaya

“A Chinese Zen master named ‘Tiger Cen’ once said, ‘Pervading all the worlds in the ten directions is your own brilliant light; all worlds in the ten directions are within your own light; and throughout all worlds in the ten directions there is not a being that is not you!’ Keizan’s Record of Transmitting the Light, masterfully translated by Francis Dojun Cook, traces the path of masters who have expounded this teaching; the teaching that adorns the crown of Buddhism.”—Andy Ferguson, author of Zen’s Chinese Heritage

I had a visit by Lahiri Mahasaya yesterday. He gave me a "one hand clap" and a lightening bolt. I searched for it's meaning and it came readily, with no effort. Here is the history behind this practice given to an earnest student from his master, Mind to Mind Transfer of Light

The Record of Transmitting the Light.
The word light in the title refers to the enlightenment experience that was transmitted, mind to mind, generation to generation, from Shakyamuni Buddha through twenty-eight ancestors in India and twenty-three ancestors in China, and finally carried from China to Japan by Dogen and transmitted to Ejo. The Record was Keizan's attempt to heal the rift that had developed at Eihei-ji and to assert the legitimacy of the lineage that master Dogen carried from China.

I invite you on my seven-year journey in search of God. My first stop was ‘The World Sound Healing Conference’ in San Francisco. I wanted to learn more about the universal energy, both seen and unseen. I waited in a large conference room to hear Dr. Susan Yale an expert on sonic codes. The room went dark and three giant pyramids projected on a large screen.

A voice came overhead, "If you knew there was a place in the world where you could 'hear God' would you go?" We were stunned in an infinite moment of wonder. Dr. Yale's voice was like an Oracle, “You can hear the sound of God in-between the Pyramids of Giza," She said. "It's a perfect F# sharp.”

I hurried home to pack for Egypt! But, before I could get there, I stopped for a coffee and was thunderstruck by a Scandinavian man. He was sitting at a long wooden table reading a thick book. How elegant he was with his tailored pants, shirt with cuffs, blond wavy hair and piercing blue eyes. I sat down next to him with my coffee-to-go. He looked up at me. Five minutes after hello, he was coming with me to Egypt! Clink the link to continue reading my memoir—"From Hollywood to God” By Kelly Granite Enck.
